About

Mission

1834 Sanctuary is a hands-on animal sanctuary dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating and caring for farm animals. We care for animals that have been abused, abandoned, or are victims of natural disasters. We educate the public about positive animal treatment, and the impact that a plant-based diet can have on the environment and our health.

Vision

We envision a world in which animals are treated with empathy and compassion; a world where interacting with animals can inspire people to make healthier dietary choices for the sake of animals and the environment. We strive to a lead a new and diverse generation of people towards a vegan lifestyle.

Our Story

The original sanctuary is located on an old farmstead that was established in 1834. The founding family, being all vegan – strive to inspire others about positive animal care and the importance of a plant-based lifestyle. With the creation of the nonprofit organization, the perfect opportunity was created to save as many animals as possible and educate the world.
